WESTMINSTER, Md. – Johns Hopkins won the first four bouts of the night en route to a 22-18 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling action on Wednesday.
Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) capped the night for the Green Terror (8-8, 3-3 CC) with a 2-minute, 28-second fall at heavyweight.
Evan Johnson provided the winning points for the Blue Jays (9-10, 6-2 CC) with a 14-3 major decision at 197 to push the lead to 10 with just the Camlin-Joey Tilson showdown remaining.
At 125, Paul Bewak got a takedown early in the second period and rode out the period en route to a 4-1 win and 3-0 lead in the match for Johns Hopkins.
At 133, Ray Yagloski's takedown with fewer than 10 seconds remaining in the third period forced sudden victory, where he earned a takedown 20 seconds in for a 7-5 win, doubling the Blue Jays' advantage.
Paul Marcello and Henry Stauber stretched the lead to 14-0 with a pair of major decisions, winning 14-4 at 141 and 15-2 at 149, respectively.
Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) staved off furious attempts from Christian Salera in the waning seconds to notch a 5-3 victory at 157 and close the deficit to 14-3.
Christian Ostrowski pushed the Johns Hopkins advantage to 18-3 with a 15-2 win at 165 before Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County) recorded a 5-2 victory at 174.
A Scott Forrester (Manchester, N.J./Manchester) won by forfeit at 184 to make it an 18-12 match with two bouts remaining.
McDaniel concludes the dual-meet schedule at Messiah on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
