COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) finished third at 141 to lead McDaniel at the Ursinus Fall Brawl in wrestling action on Saturday.
Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) added a fourth-place showing at 165 for the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet.
O'Boyle opened his day with a pair of decision victories, defeating Brandon Virgilio (Elizabethtown) 13-8 and Matt Spano (Gettysburg), 10-4.
After being pinned to drop to the consolation bracket, O'Boyle turned in a first-period fall and then toppled second-seeded Joe Cruz (Ursinus) by fall in 4:57.
Yox opened his day with a 13-2 major-decision victory over Liberty's Alex Cox and 10-0 win over Franklin & Marshall's Ekow Eshun before falling to RIT's Tory Cain, 14-5. In the consolation bracket, Yox pinned Edward Draves (West Chester) in 6:07 and notched a 16-7 victory over College of New Jersey's Antonio Mancela. A first-period fall advanced Yox to the third-place match, where he fell to Drew Daniel (Navy Prep), 6-5.
Taylor Avino (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) went 4-2 at heavyweight, falling a match shy of the third-place bout. After being pinned at the 6:00 mark in his opening bout, Avino worked his way back through the consolation bracket.
He started with a 3-1 win over Ursinus' Jacob Bigelow before recording pins in 36 seconds and 15 seconds around a 7-2 victory over Marquis Porterfield (Liberty). Eddie McBride (RIT) pinned Avino in 2:03 to end the sophomore's day.
Luke Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) recorded a pair of wins to open his day, defeating Nick Herring (College of New Jersey) 6-4 and Morgan Hoffman (West Chester) by fall in 5:21 before dropping a pair of matches to finish the day 2-2.
Matt Meyers (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) joined Yox with a 2-2 day at 157. Meyers dropped his opening bout 11-4 before recording a technical fall and 7-3 win in his first two matches of the consolation bracket.
Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County) went 2-2 at 184, recording a pair of pair of first-period pins for his two wins.
Dakota Wilhelm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) recorded a 1-minute, 14-second pin for his lone win at 197.
The Green Terror returns to action at home on Saturday, Nov. 23, hosting West Virginia Tech, Scranton, UMBC and Southern Virginia. Action begins at 12 p.m.
