WESTMINSTER, Md. – Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) went 4-0 with three pins at 165 to lead McDaniel to a 4-0 day in non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.
Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) added four wins for the Green Terror (4-0), including two by fall.
McDaniel opened the day with a 42-6 win over Southern Virginia before topping Scranton 34-12. The Green Terror added a 28-19 victory over West Virginia Tech before wrapping up the day with a 35-11 win over UMBC.
Back-to-back forfeit wins by O'Boyle and Alvontae Drummond (Lincoln, Del./Milford) staked McDaniel to a 12-0 lead over Southern Virginia before Sean Porter and Wright Noel each recorded decisions to close to 12-6 after the 157-pound bout.
Yox added a 6-minute, 17-second fall before a Ricky Tisinger (Edinburg, Va./Stonewall Jackson) won 10-5 and Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County) notched a first-minute fall seal the victory.
Dakota Wilhelm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) won by fall in 6:58 before Taylor Avino (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) won by forfeit to wrap up the match.
Against the Royals, O'Boyle notched a 40-second fall to even the match at 6-all before Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) put McDaniel in front 9-6 with a 5-1 victory.
Mason Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Tisinger each recorded first-period falls while Yox won his only match that went the distance, 12-1.
Wilhelm added a 52-second pin at 197.
Pins from Ryan O'Boyle and Drummond staked the Green Terror to a 12-6 lead against West Virginia Tech. Goretsas extended the lead to 15-6 with a 7-4 victory at 149.
Yox had a pin in 4:34 and Avino won 12-0 at heavyweight to seal the win down the stretch.
Behind a 42-second pin from Mitchell and 46-second fall by Yox along with two technical falls, McDaniel jumped out to a 26-0 lead on UMBC after 165. David Gurski capped the day with a 1-minute, 46-second pin at heavyweight.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah on Dec. 6-7.
