March nets career best in victory

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored the game's first 19 points en route to a 80-25 victory over Bryn Mawr in non-conference women's basketball action on Saturday.

Alyssa March (Fallston, Md./Fallston) netted a career-best 14 points to lead a balanced attack for the Green Terror (4-0), who got no fewer than two points from 14 different players. Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) was the only other McDaniel player to reach double figures with 12 points.

Nicolette Parmese led the Owls (1-2) with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

All five Green Terror starters scored in the game's opening run that was capped by a Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) layup 4:46 into the game when the squad's second five players had already subbed into the contest.

Parmese broke up the shutout with two free throws at the 14:56 mark before getting Bryn Mawr's first field goal 5:55 into the game to make it a 21-4 game.

Two layups from Lauren Ballenger (Silver Spring, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) keyed another 12-0 run that stretched the lead to 35-7 with 7:52 showing in the first half.

A Perez layup off an inbounds play made it a 43-14 game at the break.

Back-to-back Perez triples in the second half helped extend the advantage to 51-14 before three minutes had elapsed in the second half.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from Samantha Dowling (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) keyed an 11-0 burst that stretched the advantage to 65-18 en route to the 55-point win.

Dowling finished with eight points. Nikki Piper (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Shelby Taylor (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) led the way on the glass with six rebounds. Perez, Ballenger, Codi McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) and Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) all dished out four assists apiece. Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) nabbed a career-high six steals.

McDaniel returns to action at York (Pa.) on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
