Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel tallied a pair of goals in each half to defeat Goucher 4-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.
Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) recorded his first collegiate hat trick to lead the Green Terror (2-1), who has tallied nine times in its first three games after scoring 16 goals in all of 2011.
Parker Bay led the Gophers (0-2-1) with a goal in the 40th minute.
In the 10th minute, Max Rutherford (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) played a quick ball to McCracken, who blasted a shot into the back of the net with the keeper out.
At the 21:09 mark, Rutherford added a goal to his assist putting a ball top shelf off a John LaRocca (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) free kick from 40 yards out.
George El-Khoury played a ball through the defense that Bay finished with 39:38 elapsed, cutting the deficit in half.
A McCracken goal off a Ruben Vaca (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) pass from the left end line to reestablish the two-goal lead in the 60th minute.
McCracken added an unassisted tally in the 82nd minute to set the final margin.
Jack Pebole (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) made five saves for McDaniel while Matt Sinatro made four stops at the other end.
The Green Terror finished with a 16-6 advantage in shots and 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 2 York (Pa.) in the first day of the Holiday Inn Conference Center Soccer Classic on Saturday. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
