WESTMINSTER, Md. – A stretch of six straight victories turned a 6-3 deficit into a 26-12 non-conference wrestling victory for No. 24 Messiah over McDaniel on Tuesday.
Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the Green Terror (6-12) with a 1-minute, 11-second fall, capping the match after the Falcons (16-6) had secured the match with their six straight wins.
Trailing 6-3, Ty Kanouff once again turned the match level with a 10-6 decision victory at 149 to start the run.
A takedown with 35 seconds remaining in the bout gave Chris Hardenberg a 4-2 advantage before an escape 15 seconds set the final margin at 157, giving the Falcons their first lead of the night 9-6 midway through the match.
Ricardo Plummer added a 7-3 decision at 165 to stretch the lead to 12-6 before Matt Cross doubled the advantage one bout later with a 55-second fall at 174.
A Tim Stewart two-point near fall with 13 seconds remaining in the bout gave him a 19-3 technical fall and a 23-6 lead, sealing the match for Messiah after 184.
Travis Ebersole ran the stretch to six straight bout wins with a 7-0 decision at 197.
Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) earned a pair of first-period takedowns to notch a 4-1 victory and stake McDaniel to a 3-0 lead after the 125 match.
An escape four seconds into the second gave Kaleb Loht a 1-0 lead. Mike Tancredi (Wall, N.J./Wall Twp.) earned his own escape in the third but not until 1:16 had elapsed, giving Loht 1 minute, 12 seconds of advantage time and a 2-1 victory.
Mason Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) turned the advantage back to the Green Terror, sealing a 5-2 win at 141 with a takedown and near pin in the final two seconds of the bout.
The Green Terror concludes the regular season at No. 15 York (Pa.) on Friday. Match time is 7 p.m.
