Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg took the second set 27-25 to key a 3-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the Green Terror (5-19, 0-8 CC) with eight kills while Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) added seven.
Cydney Bracken paced the Bullets (14-10, 5-2 CC) with 15 kills.
Clinging to a 10-8 lead after three straight Martin aces, Gettysburg tallied 15 of the final 19 points in the first set to take a 25-12 victory.
After McDaniel rallied from a 20-16 deficit to knot the second set at 22, another Martin ace gave the visitors a one-point advantage.
Two Bracken kills turned the one-point deficit into a one-point lead. The teams traded points until the Bullets were able to capture the final two for the 27-25 win.
Tied at 6-all, two Kate DeLass aces keyed a 4-0 burst to take a 10-6 lead. Gettysburg stretched the lead to as many as 21-14 before kills from McShea and Martin helped close the deficit to 22-20.
Gettysburg took the final three points for a 25-20 win.
Colette Kellen (Derwood, Md./Covenant Life) added 18 assists. McShea chipped in eight digs while Olivia Kunc (Chesterbrook, Pa./Conestoga) had seven. Martin finished with the four aces.
McDaniel returns to action at home in a trimatch against Rosemont and Trinity (D.C.) on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
