BALTIMORE, Md. – Johns Hopkins won the first four bouts of the night and held on for a 20-17 victory over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling opener for both teams on Tuesday.

Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) led the Green Terror (1-5, 0-1 CC) with his conference-leading ninth technical fall of the season, winning 18-1 at 157.

Evan Johnson determined the match, winning for the Blue Jays (2-10, 1-0 CC) 5-1 at 197.

Leading 17-11 with the knowledge that Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) would be awarded a forfeit and six points at heavyweight, Johnson took a 5-1 decision to provide the margin of victory.

Paul Bewak opened with a 7-4 victory at 125 before Ray Yagloski (133) and Paul Marcello (141) added major decisions by margins of 16-4 and 17-6, respectively, to open up an 11-0 lead.

Henry Stauber stretched the advantage to 14-0 win an 8-3 win at 149 before McDaniel won three of the next four matches to force the critical bout.

Lowe's 18-1 victory came in 3 minutes, 52 seconds before Sean McGarry (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) closed the deficit to 14-8 with a 5-0 win at 165.

Travis Laska and Scott Forrester (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Twp.) exchanged decisions at 174 and 184, respectively. Laska won 8-3 while Forrester edged out a 3-2 victory.

The Green Terror returns to action at home in a CC quad with Merchant Marine, Stevens and Washington and Lee on Saturday. Match time is 11 a.m.
