Box Score York (Pa.) captures own tournament with 4-0 win over McDaniel
YORK, Pa. – York (Pa.) scored twice in each half to win the championship of its own Holiday Inn Conference Center Soccer Classic, defeating McDaniel 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Sunday.
Sean Best (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora) made seven saves to lead the Green Terror (1-2-1), who were outshot 22-7 by the 23rd-ranked Spartans (3-2) on the afternoon.
Four different players scored for the hosts and seven different players registered a point on the afternoon.
Eric Mackin opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing off a ball from Antonio Bua on the right sideline.
Taylor Brummitt doubled the advantage just over seven minutes later, heading home a pass from Matt DeLong.
Mike Gill and Bua combined off a free kick to feed Michael Andrei, who finished for a 3-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
Jake Hower wrapped up the scoring off a rebound in the 86th minute.
McDaniel returns to action at Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
