CARLISLE, Pa. – McDaniel scored 12 of the final 13 points in the first half to take an eight-point lead into the locker room en route to a 58-46 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Thursday.

Emma Wingerd (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) led the Green Terror (5-1, 3-0 CC) with 15 points and nine rebounds. 

Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) and Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) added 12 points apiece for McDaniel, which improved to 5-1 for the first time since 2003-04 and 3-0 in CC play for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign.

Belma Mekic paced the Red Devils (1-6, 1-2 CC) with 12 points while Bridget Borgese added 10.

After Rybak pushed the lead to 18-15 with 7:38 on the clock, Dickinson countered with an 8-2 stretch to force a Green Terror timeout just 2:13 later.

A Wingerd basket and two free throws each from Perez and Stephanie Fish (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) put the Green Terror back on top 26-23 with 3:11 remaining, sparking a a 12-1 finish to the opening half.

McDaniel stretched the lead to 11 before 1:35 had elapsed in the second half.

Clinging to a 46-39 lead with 9:10 to play, Borgese converted 3 of 4 free throw attempts over the next minute to trim the deficit to four.

Another Borgese free throw with 7:25 showing pulled the hosts within three but two Wingerd free throws with 5:41 remaining snapped a 3-minute, 29-second scoring drought and sparked a 6-0 burst that pushed the lead back to nine with 3:53 on the clock.

Two Allie Eader (Ijamsville, Md./Linganore) free throws pushed the lead back to 11 with 1:59 remaining.

Behind four points from Wingerd, McDaniel built an 8-4 lead in the game's first 3:21 before Borgese hit a layup to spark a 9-0 run.

Five different players scored during the burst that gave the hosts a 13-8 lead with 13:34 to play in the first half.

Kelsey Franklin (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) hit a long jumper and Nikki Ostrow (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) converted a layup to trim the deficit to one just 46 seconds later.

Franklin added another layup nearly a minute later to put the Green Terror back on top, 14-13.

The Green Terror returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
