McShea has 12 kills to earn all-tournament spot

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) notched 12 kills and 12 digs in a pair of 3-0 losses for McDaniel on the final day of the 2011 Lycoming Tip-Off Classic in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.

The Green Terror (0-19) opened the day with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-10 loss to Ithaca before Misericordia topped McDaniel 25-8, 25-23, 25-13 in the consolation match of the tournament.

Against the Warriors (11-9), McShea had eight kills and seven digs. Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) registered five kills and five digs. Brooke Sillamna (Croftton, Md./Arundel) chipped in 13 assists.

Jackie Oliva and Chelsee Strine led the Lycoming attack with six kills apiece while Katelyn McKillop steadied the defense with nine digs.

Against the Cougars (8-9), Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscara) led the attack with five kills while McShea chipped in four. Weldon and Krobock had 11 digs each.

McShea added five digs and four aces while Sillaman tallied 10 assists.

Carly Zaklukiewicz, Cailin McCullion and Krystal Burford each had seven kills to lead Misericordia. Kristin Hoffman had 23 digs while Burford steadied the defense with 12 digs.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Susquehanna on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
