Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Johns Hopkins remained perfect in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball play with a 3-0 sweep of McDaniel on Wednesday.
Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) led the Green Terror (0-24, 0-9 CC) with 10 digs. She also had a team-best four kills.
Katie Schwarz notched team highs of nine kills, 10 digs and three aces to lead the Blue Jays (20-4, 9-0 CC), who can secure the top spot in the CC tournament with a victory over Gettysburg on Saturday.
All three of Ellen Rogers aces helped Johns Hopkins jump out to a 10-1 lead in the first set en route to a 25-4 victory.
Tied at 2-all in the second set, one of Carolyn Mickleson's aces keyed a 4-0 run to put the visitors on top 6-2 en route to a 25-10 win.
The Blue Jays jumped out 9-2 lead in the third set and completed the sweep, 25-10.
Becky Paynter added three of Johns Hopkins' 13 aces. Meagan Donohue added eight kills.
Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) and Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) added two kills each for McDaniel. Arielle Stockbridge (Malvern, Pa.) chipped in eight digs while Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Krobock contributed six digs each.
The Green Terror concludes the season at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
