Box Score Diffendal scores in 51st minute
WESTMINSTER, Md. – An Ursinus goal early in the first half sparked a three-goal outburst in seven minutes as part of a 3-1 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Erica Diffendal (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) scored off a free kick for the Green Terror (1-7, 1-3 CC) to make it a 2-1 game in the 51st minute.
Jess Porcelan led the Bears (4-6, 2-3 CC) with a goal and two assists.
Porcelan found Brittany Williams on a corner kick in the 32nd minute to put Ursinus on top, 1-0.
Ama Achiaw extended the lead to 2-0 just 3:23 into the second half, finishing a second Porcelan helper.
Diffendal closed the deficit to 2-1 just 2:15 later before Porcelan reestablished the two-goal advantage fewer than five minutes after that.
Jan Woolley (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) made eight saves for McDaniel while Kara DiJospeh had four stops for Ursinus.
The Bears finished with advantages of 18-7 in shots and 16-2 in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
