Yeo, Glotfelty notch four-win days
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Will Yeo (Lexington
Park, Md./Great Mills) went 4-0 at 197 to help lift McDaniel to a
2-2 showing at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus in
non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.
Brock
Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) added a 4-0 day
of his own at heavyweight for the Green Terror (2-5), including
three forfeits to help improve his career record to 108-20 –
four wins shy of matching the career mark for wins.
McDaniel opened the day with back-to-back wins, notching a
come-from-behind victory over Hunter 22-19 before downing MIT 33-16
for its first two dual wins of the season.
The Green Terror closed the day with a 28-15 loss to College of
New Jersey and fell 29-9 to Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Against the Hawks, McDaniel fell into a 19-3 hole but won the
final four bouts to take the win.
Chris Urps
(Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) started the comeback with a 12-0 major
decision at 174 before Scott Forrester
(Manchester, N.J./Manchester Twp.) secure the match with a 6-0 win.
Yeo and Glotfelty took forfeits for the final 12 points of the
match.
Tom
Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) notched the Green
Terror's other win of the match, tallying a 7-1 victory at 133.
Against the Engineers, four straight McDaniel victories after an
opening Sam Shames first-period pin at 125 propelled the Green
Terror to victory.
Goretsas won his second match of the day, tallying a 9-3 victory
before Tim Hall
(Westminster, Md./Westminster) added a 48-second fall at 141 for an
8-6 lead.
A Logan Yox
(Westminster, Md./Liberty) 15-3 major decision and Tom Boehm (Sea Cliff,
N.Y./North Shore) forefeit win made it an 18-6 lead.
Urps added a 37-second fall while Yeo was a 6-2 winner.
Glotfelty notched his second forfeit win of the day.
Against the Lions, Mike Tancredi
(Wall, N.J./Wall Twp.) recorded an 8-2 win at 141 as McDaniel's
only points until the final two bouts. Yeo won by fall in 2:44
while Glotfelty recorded yet another forfeit.
Against the Warhawks, the same three wrestlers were victorious
for the Green Terror – all by decision. Tancredi won 3-2
while Yeo was victorious, 7-5. Glotfelty rounded out the day's
action with a 6-0 win.
McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at
home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
