Box Score Mustangs hold Green Terror to just 28 points in 3-0 win
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Alex Mercer recorded 11 kills and
three total blocks to lead Stevenson to a 3-0 win over McDaniel in
non-conference volleyball action on Wednesday.
The Mustangs (5-1) ran off nine straight points in the first set
to open up a 15-4 lead en route to a 25-7 victory before completing
the sweep with wins of 25-11 and 25-10, respectively.
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) led the Green Terror
(0-4) with 15 digs.
In the second set, Stevenson opened up an 11-2 lead before
reeling off seven straight points later in the set for the 25-11
win.
A Jessica Giselman ace – one of her six in the match
– keyed a 10-0 run midway through the third set that gave the
hosts a 14-4 lead en route to the 25-10 victory.
Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) had a
team-high three kills and nine digs for McDaniel.
Giselman added 25 assists and 10 digs to her six aces while
Avery Gabbard had a team-high 12 digs.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Washington and Lee
Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Action on Friday begins at 3
p.m.
