Box Score Green Terror downs Goucher 3-1 behind pair from Calderon
TOWSON, Md. – Luis Calderon (Silver Spring, Md./Bullis)
scored two goals to lead McDaniel to a 3-1 victory at Goucher in
non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.
Jay Berger tallied in the 57th minute to pull the Gophers (2-1)
within 2-1 but Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of
Baltimore) added an insurance goal for the Green Terror (1-2) with
2:33 to play in the team's first win of the season.
In the game's 33rd minute, David Cross (Odenton,
Md./Arundel) fed a long pass to Calderon, who found the back of the
net for his second collegiate goal.
At the 55:13 mark, the freshman made it three goals on the year,
finishing a pass from Eddy Lingue (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) for a
2-0 lead before Berger tallied unassisted just 1:18 later and Davis
finished a solo run in the 88th minute for the final score.
McDaniel finished with an 18-13 advantage in the shot column
while Goucher had a slim 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
David Spivey made six saves for the Gophers while Zach Nibbelink
(Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) had two stops for the Green
Terror.
McDaniel returns to action against Wilkes at the York Tournament
on Saturday. Game time is 2:15 p.m.
