Box Score 2 Elizabethown, York sweep Green Terror in tri-match
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) recorded 17 kills in a pair of
matches for McDaniel, which dropped 3-0 decisions to Elizabethtown
and York (Pa.) in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.
The Blue Jays (1-0) opened the day with a sweep, taking the
match by set scores of 25-8, 25-18, 25-17 before making it a 2-0
day with a win over the Spartans (2-1) in five sets.
The Green Terror (0-3) dropped the final match of the day to
York, 25-14, 27-25, 25-21.
Against Elizabethtown, Nuckles led the way with 10 kills and
seven aces. Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added
six kills and five aces.
The Blue Jays opened up a 6-0 lead in the first set en route to
the easy set victory.
Against York, McShea paced McDaniel with 10 kills while Nuckles
added seven.
Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added 21 assists
and seven digs. Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) led the
defense with 12 digs while Sarah Byron (Westminster, Md./Winters
Mill) had 10.
The Green Terror returns to action at Stevenson on Wednesday.
Match time is 7 p.m.
