Box Score Bison tally 3-1 victory over McDaniel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jessica Israel recorded 17 kills to
lead Gallaudet to a 3-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference
volleyball action on Thursday.
The Green Terror (1-13) took the first set 25-23 to snap an
18-set winning streak by the Bison (12-8) but the hosts came back
to notch their seventh straight match victory, taking the next
three sets, 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.
For McDaniel, it marked the first time this season that the
squad won a set but lost the match.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) paced the
Green Terror with a double-double, recording team highs of 12 kills
and 14 digs.
In the first set, McDaniel built an 18-12 advantage before
Galladuet rallied with nine of the next 12 points to even the set
at 21-all.
Knotted at 23-all, a McShea kill and an attack error gave the
visitors a 1-0 lead in the match
In each of the next three sets, the Bison gradually extended
their lead to take wins each time.
Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added 18 assists
to the attack.
Sarah Byron (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) added 15 digs and an
ace while Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) contributed 12
digs to the defensive effort.
The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday.
