McDaniel
BALTIMORE, Md. – After a scoreless first 99 minutes, 45
seconds, Sean Coleman prevented a second overtime, tallying with 14
seconds remaining in the first extra session to lift No. 25 Johns
Hopkins to a 1-0 Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer
victory over McDaniel on Thursday.
The Blue Jays (6-2-2, 1-1-1 CC) and Green Terror (4-6, 1-2 CC)
played just their second overtime game in CC competition under a
steady-to-heavy rain despite a 21-6 advantage in shots by the hosts
during the 90 minutes of regulation. Johns Hopkins finished with a
27-8 edge.
Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) turned away the
first 10 shots he saw on cage before the Blue Jays were able to
find the back of the net in the 100th minutes for their first
conference win.
Coleman rocketed a free kick from 30 yards out off a yellow card
that slid just inside the post into the lower-right corner.
The Blue Jays added an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks. Ravi Gill
made five saves.
The Green Terror returns to action at Washington (Md.) on
Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
