Box Score Green Terror tallies five shots, goal in final 30 minutes but
Wolverines prevail
DOVER, Del. – Kyle Long gave Wesley a 2-0 lead in the 59th
minute and the defense withstood a McDaniel rally for a 2-1
non-conference men's soccer victory on Wednesday.
Frank Buffa staked the Wolverines (2-5-1) to a 1-0 halftime lead
with an unassisted tally in the 30th minute.
Timothy Wineke (Reisterstown, Md./North Carroll) tallied his
first goal of the season for the Green Terror (3-5) to cut the
deficit in half but the squad could not find the equalizer.
Long finished an unassisted marker at the 58:44 but McDaniel
outshot the hosts 5-2 after that.
Wineke finished a feed from David Cross (Odenton, Md./Arundel)
on the third of those attempts but Nick Talarico made two of his
three saves in the span to preserve the win.
Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made four saves
for McDaniel, which finished with a 12-10 advantage in shots and
5-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Ursinus on
Saturday. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
