Box Score Green Terror downs Muhlenberg 3-0 behind 14 kills from
McShea
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov.
Thomas Johnson) recorded 14 kills to lead McDaniel to a 3-0 win
over Muhlenberg in the Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball opener
for both teams on Saturday.
McShea added 12 digs and two aces for the Green Terror (1-9, 1-0
CC), who snapped its season-opening nine-match losing streak with
its first three set wins of the year.
Jackie Price led the Mules (1-8, 0-1 CC) with 10 kills and nine
digs.
McDaniel took the first set 25-17 behind a 5-2 start to the
match.
In the second set, the Green Terror was trailing 24-20 before
four straight points evened the set at 24. A Kristen Nuckles
(Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) kill gave the hosts a
26-25 lead before an attack error gave McDaniel a 27-25 win.
In the third set, neither team led by more than two points until
a 10-2 Green Terror burst opened up an 18-11 advantage en route to
a 25-16 victory.
Sarah Byron (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the defense with
14 digs. Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) had 25
assists.
Nuckles notched eight kills and two aces.
McDaniel returns to action at Catholic on Tuesday. Match time is
7 p.m.
