Box Score Red Devils outscore Green Terror 33-17 in second half
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Chris Heine hit 9 of 10
shots, including 5-for-6 from 3-point range, to finish with 23
points and lead Dickinson to a 61-40 win over McDaniel in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Wednesday.
Matt Dolan added 13 points while Trevor
Kenny chipped in 10 for the Red Devils (2-16, 2-11 CC),
who notched just their second win of the season and second in the
last eight days.
Marcus Dyson (Scotch Plains, N.J./Union
Catholic) led the Green Terror (8-12, 4-9 CC) with 13
points - all of which came before halftime in his team's fourth
straight defeat.
With the game tied at 23-all on a Woody Butler
(Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) free throw with 2:42 showing
in the first half, Sean Bair hit layup late in the
period to give Dickinson the lead for good.
Heine extended the lead to five at intermission just beating the
first-half buzzer with a heave off the backboard from two steps
inside halfcourt after Chris Smith saved the ball
on the sideline back to Heine.
A Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County)
3-pointer 1:32 into the second half made it a 36-30 game but the
Red Devils tallied 29 of the games next 35 points, extending the
lead to as many as 27 at 59-32 on a pair of Chris
Harrington free throws with 3:57 on the clock.
A Dolan jumper with 10:51 remaining in the first half opened up
the largest lead for either team in the first half, giving
Dickinson a 16-11 advantage.
The Green Terror, keyed by seven points from Dyson, responded
with an 11-2 run to take its largest lead at 22-18 with 4:40 on the
clock.
A Chris Barsanti layup and Heine triple gave
the visitors a one-point advantage before Butler tied the game for
the fifth and final time.
The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Saturday.
