Bears hand Green Terror second loss in as many days

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Lindsay Teuber recorded a double-double with game highs of 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead Ursinus to a 71-63 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.

Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) paced the Green Terror (17-6, 15-4 CC) with 18 points while Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) added 10 points in the team's second loss in as many days after a 17-game winning streak was snapped by Johns Hopkins on Friday.

Alex Shivers and Alli Rosati added 11 points each for the Bears (11-12, 8-10 CC), who held on to their slim conference playoff hopes with the victory.

Knotted at 55-all after Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) rattled home a 3-pointer with 4:52 to play, Rosati hit a long jumper to spark a 9-0 burst that gave the hosts a 64-55 advantage just over two minutes later.

Laura Krieger canned a triple and Ursinus hit four straight free throws for the team's largest lead of the contest.

Two Lyles free throws at the 2:32 mark snapped the drought but Rosati responded with a jumper to push the lead back to nine.

A Sally Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) layup with 1:11 on the clock trimmed the deficit to seven.

A single Shivers free throws and two Lyles charity tosses closed the deficit to 67-61 but McDaniel could get no closer.

A 4-for-4 showing from Ursinus in the waning seconds set the final margin.

Knotted at 15-all, Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River) canned a 3-pointer from the left wing with 8:22 on the clock to spark a 9-0 burst.

A Jen Sroba layup at the 4:35 mark snapped a 4-minute, 34-second scoreless drought for Ursinus and opened an 8-0 counter that closed the deficit to one.

Rachael Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) hit a single free throw to make it a 25-23 game with 1:23 on the clock but Laura Krieger hit a 15-foot jumper to even the game once again.

Two Fischer free throws with 9.5 seconds showing made it a 27-25 game at the intermission.

Two Lyles free throws with 10:32 to play gave the visitors a 44-38 advantage but Ursinus reeled off seven straight points to take a one-point lead.

Cara Thompson (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) responded with a layup to give McDaniel a 46-45 edge with 8:44 to play but two Teuber free throws gave the Bears the advantage once again and the hosts never trailed thereafter.
