Box Score Nuckles notches triple-double to pace Green Terror
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) recorded 10 kills, 23 assists and 17
digs to lead McDaniel to a 3-1 victory over Washington (Md.) in
Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the attack
with a match-high 19 kills for the Green Terror (3-18, 2-6 CC), who
won three straight sets after the Shorewomen (10-17, 2-6 CC) won
the final five points to win the first set, 25-22.
McDaniel took the second set 26-24 before taking a 2-1 lead in
the match with a 25-17 victory in set No. 3. Washington closed the
deficit in the final set from 24-18 to 24-23 before a service error
gave the Green Terror the match.
Sarah Byon (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) paced a 90-dig effort
with 23 digs while Katie Ferguson added 21. Ferguson added four
service aces.
Maria Whitman led three Shorewomen hitters in double-figure
kills with 15. Alyssa Forget notched 13 while Jenny Lee had 12.
Rita Rivera paced the defense with 23 digs.
Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) contributed 20
assists and 12 digs.
As a team, the McDaniel recorded season bests of 51 kills and 11
aces.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Johns Hopkins
on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
