Box Score Mules use 32-10 second half to hand McDaniel third straight
loss
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Spencer Liddic recorded 23
points to lead Muhlenberg to a 67-40 victory over McDaniel in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.
Ryan Foster and Peter Barnes
added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Mules (7-4, 5-0 CC),
who outscored the Green Terror (6-5, 2-2 CC) by a 48-15 margin over
the final 26:27 of the game, including by a 32-10 margin in the
second half.
Steve Wilson (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon)
led McDaniel with a season-high nine points.
Trailing 25-19 with 6:27 to play, Liddic hit a layup to spark a
7-0 burst that gave Muhenberg a one-point advantage just 1 minute,
12 seconds later.
After two ties and three lead changes, a Foster hit a layup and
Evan Tozer drained a 3-pointer in the final minute
of the first half to give the hosts a 35-30 lead at the break.
A Foster triple 3:20 into the second half gave Muhlenberg its
first double-digit lead at 46-34.
Foster hit a layup at the 9:04 mark to cap a quick 6-0 burst
that gave the Mules a 58-36 lead.
The Green Terror never got closer than 20 en route to its
largest margin of defeat since an 83-56 loss to St. Mary's (Md.) to
open the season and fewest points since a 65-39 loss to Clark on
Dec. 29, 2004.
Tied at 9-all just over five minutes into the contest, Wilson
hit a 3-pointer to spark an 11-4 stretch. Miguel Jones
(Baltimore, Md./North County) hit a triple to cap the run
and give McDaniel a 20-13 lead with 9:44 to play in the first half.
Michael McClain (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery
Blair) and Louis Sarris-Grau (Huntingdon Valley,
Pa./Lower Moreland) added eight points apiece for the
Green Terror.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Haverford on Tuesday.
