Box Score Green Terror takes down Bryn Mawr to win 14th straight
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent
Pallotti) netted a game-high 15 points to lead McDaniel to
a 71-43 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC)
women's basketball action on Saturday.
Coupled with Johns Hopkins' 73-66 win over No. 11 Muhlenberg,
the Green Terror (14-4, 12-2 CC) move into first place in the
conference standings, one-half game ahead of the Mules and
Gettysburg.
The victory, McDaniel's 14th straight, was also the 600th in
program history. The Green Terror is 600-397-2 in 52 seasons of
women's basketball for a .602 winning percentage.
Lindsey Darvin led the Owls (1-16, 0-14 CC)
with 14 points while Shanika Bridges-King and
Cassie Kosarek chipped in 12 and 11, respectively.
Sally Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales
Academy) added 12 points on four 3-pointers for McDaniel
while Kim Acton (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park)
reached double figures for the second straight game with 11 points.
Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough)
added nine points and five assists.
Trailing 5-1 nearly three minutes into the game, Ali
Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River), who finished
with six points and five rebounds - all in the first half - hit a
layup to spark a 15-2 burst over a seven-minute span.
An Emilie Naccarato layup pulled Bryn Mawr
within 16-10 with 8:20 to play but that was as close as the Owls
would get the rest of the way.
Grace counted with a triple at the 7:07 mark to spark a 28-6
stretch that gave the hosts a 34-16 advatange at the break.
A Lyles third-chance layup on the first possession of the second
half pushed the lead to 20 for the first time en route to the final
margin of 28.
Lyles added nine rebounds while Whitney Snoops
(Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the way on the
glass with 10 rebounds for McDaniel, which outrebounded the Owls
42-29 in the game.
The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Monday. Game
time is 7 p.m.
