Box Score Bullets hold McDaniel to 17 in second half for 62-37 win
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Kevin Kennedy finished with
19 points to lead Gettysburg to a 62-37 victory over McDaniel in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Wednesday.
Woody Butler (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) led
the Green Terror (7-8, 3-5 CC) with seven points.
Andrew Powers added 14 points for the Bullets
(9-6, 7-2 CC), who held an opponent to fewer to 40 points for the
first time since Jan. 21, 1981.
After a back-and-forth first eight minutes, Gettysburg put
together a 10-2 run to turn a 7-all deadlock into a 17-9 lead with
6:51 showing on the first-half clock.
The Bullets extended the lead to as many as 13 on an
Alex Zurn basket-and-foul play with 1:53 to play.
Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County) hit
a layup 14 seconds later to set the halftime margin at 31-20.
Gettysburg steadily built its advantage over the second half,
leading by as many as 25 at 56-31 with 4:12 to play.
A single Woody Butler (Smithsburg,
Md./Middletown) free throw snapped an 8-minute, 29-second
drought.
A Karl Nelson (Owings Mills, Md./Park School of
Baltimore) 3-pointer with 13 seconds left gave the Green
Terror 37 points - its fewest since a 65-37 loss at Johns Hopkins
on Feb. 19, 2003.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Washington
(Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
