Box Score Green Terror uses big run early, downs Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. - Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent
Pallotti) led all scorers with a season-high 18 points to
pace McDaniel in a 72-66 victory at Franklin & Marshall in
Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.
Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River)
added 16 points and six steals for the Green Terror (10-4, 9-2 CC),
who used a 27-6 run in the first half to build a 19-point advantage
en route to its 10th straight victory.
Amy Chabitnoy led the Diplomats (8-7, 4-6 CC)
with 15 points.
Trailing 4-2, a Moreland fastbreak layup with 15:22 to play in
the opening half knotted the game and sparked the big run.
Even at 6-all just 1:23 later, Whitney Snoops
(Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) converted a
three-point that gave McDaniel the lead for good.
Six more fastbreak points helped extend the lead to its largest
point with 6:02 remaining in the first half.
Four straight points from Chabitnoy sparked a 20-7 burst to the
locker room to make it a 36-30 contest at intermission.
With 4:09 elapsed in the second half, Alexa
Barbush converted a three-point play of her own to close
the deficit to 42-39 before six quick points stretched the Green
Terror lead back to nine with 13:47 showing.
Beth Holt hit a layup with 7:04 on the clock
that trimmed the margin to 52-51 - the first of three times
Franklin & Marshall made it a one-point game.
Two Moreland attempts from the charity stripe with 58.9 seconds
on the clock swelled the lead back to 10 and the squad hit five of
their final 10 attempts from the line to hold on for the six-point
win.
Katelyn Fischer (Reisterstown, Md./Seton
Keough) added 10 points and six assists for McDaniel.
Lyles matched her career high with seven blocked shots.
The Green Terror returns to action at No. 21 Gettysburg on
Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
