Herrgott crosses 1,000-kill plateau in McDaniel's 3-1 loss to
Gophers
TOWSON, Md. - Megan Smith recorded 29 kills and
20 digs to lead Goucher in a 3-1 victory over McDaniel in
non-conference volleyball action on Tuesday.
The Gophers (2-2) took the first set 25-21 before the Green
Terror (1-3) evened the match with a 25-22 win in set two. However,
Goucher claimed the match with wins of 25-22 and 25-19 in the third
and fourth sets, respectively.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder)
recorded nine kills to become the ninth player in program history
with 1,000 kills. She now has 1,006 in her career.
Freshman Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) led the McDaniel attack with 12 kills. She also
added 15 digs and three aces.
Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy) added 19 assists and 12 digs.
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York)
steadied the defense with 23 digs while Jackie Hawkins
(Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) also reached double
figures in the dig column with 15.
Claire Sauvage-Mar added 40 assists, 16 digs
and three aces for Goucher. Rebecca Schaefer added
19 digs while Ashley Fan had 14.
McDaniel returns to action at the SUNY Old Westbury Tournament
on Saturday and Sunday.
