Green Terror fall 3-1 to both host Blue Jays and York
WESTMINSTER, Pa. - Taylor Herrgott (Derwood,
Md./Magruder) recorded 14 kills and 10 total blocks for
McDaniel but the Green Terror dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions in a
tri-match at Elizabethtown in non-conference volleyball action on
Saturday.
McDaniel (1-2) fell to York (Pa.) by a slim 25-23 margin in the
first set and fell 25-17 in the second set before pulling to within
2-1 with a 25-21 victory in set three. The Spartans (2-1) wrapped
up the match with a 25-19 win.
Against the Blue Jays (3-0), the hosts took sets one and two by
scores of 25-17 and 25-14, respectively, before the Green Terror
took the third set, 25-15. Elizabethtown ended the match with a
25-19 victory in the fouth set.
Herrgott notched eight kills and four blocks against York while
freshman Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) added six kills, 11 digs and four aces.
Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy) added 19 assists, a team-high 14 digs and four
aces.
Against the Blue Jays, Kelly Toms (Hagerstown, Md./North
Hagerstown) led the attack with nine kills while
Lanni Reisigner (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added
seven.
Herrgott finished with six kills to leave her three shy of 1,000
for her career. She also had six total blocks.
McShea recorded five kills, three aces and 11 digs.
Sarah Byron (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill)
steadied the defense with 13 digs.
McDaniel returns to action at Goucher on Tuesday. Match time is
7 p.m.
