Box Score Wineke tallies two in first half as part of 5-0 win over
Widener
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Timothy Wineke (Reistertown,
Md./North Carroll) scored twice in the first half to stake
McDaniel to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-0 non-conference
men's soccer victory over Widener on Saturday.
The Green Terror (3-3) finished with 28-11 advantage in shots
over the Pride (1-3-1), who got six saves from Hamed
Correa in goal.
Benjamin Knight (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough
Regional) recorded three saves in the first half before
Robert Hollasch (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) made four in the
second half.
Wineke finished a Paul Seegren (Marriottsville,
Md./Liberty) feed off a corner just 1:50 into the game for
a 1-0 lead.
In the 20th minute, David Cross (Odenton,
Md./Arundel) finished an unassisted tally to double the
advantage before a Wineke goal off a Donald Dokas
(Sykesville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) assist at the 27:03
mark to make it a 3-0 lead at the break.
Max Rutherford (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill)
and Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of
Baltimore) added unassisted goals just over four minutes
apart in the second half for the final margin.
The Green Terror returns to action at Elizabethtown on Tuesday.
