WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kevin Henry (Potomac,
Md./Bullis School) and Louis Sarris-Grau
(Huntington Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) each recorded 13
points to lead McDaniel to a 57-44 victory over Swarthmore in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on
Wednesday.
The Green Terror (15-5, 9-3 CC) used a 13-2 run over the final 7:24
of the first half to build a 29-17 halftime advantage en route to
its 15th win of the season – one shy of the
program record.
Raul Ordonez tallied 15 points to lead the Garnet
(1-18, 0-13 CC), who also got 10 points from Michael
Giannangeli.
Baskets from three different Swarthmore players helped the Garnet
open a 6-2 advantage 3:25 into the game but a Miguel Jones
(Baltimore, Md./North County) 3-pointer closed the
McDaniel deficit to one.
A Henry 3-pointer gave the Green Terror a 12-10 lead at the 14:33
mark – an advantage the squad would not
relinquish.
After a Matt Allen triple sliced the deficit to
16-15 but a Josh McKay (Baltimore, Md./Eastern
Tech) layup sparked the 13-2 run to the
break.
A Henry 3-pointer stretched the lead to as many as 19 at 51-32 with
6:18 to play in the game.
Chad Arrington (Randallstown,
Md./Randallstown) led McDaniel on the glass with eight
rebounds while Sarris-Grau grabbed seven. Arrington dished out a
team-high three assists. Sarris-Grau had four blocks and three
steals.
The Green Terror, who remained a game out of first place after
Franklin & Marshall defeated Johns Hopkins, returns to action
at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 3
p.m.
