WESTMINSTER, Md. – Josh McKay (Baltimore,
Md./Eastern Tech) recorded a double-double with 20 points
and 10 rebounds to lead McDaniel to a 69-55 win over Dickinson in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on
Wednesday.
With the victory, the Green Terror (17-5, 12-3 CC) clinched its
second consecutive playoff berth and set a program record for wins
in a season with 17. By virtue of tiebreakers, McDaniel has also
secured a first-round bye and remains a game out of first place
after Franklin & Marshall downed Ursinus, 87-81.
On senior night, T.J. Odunlami (Columbia,
Md./Atholton) added 15 points for the Green Terror while
Ryan Finch (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon) chipped in
10.
Tom Leszczynski led the Red Devils (10-11, 4-11
CC) with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
After Dickinson jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the game's first
1:02, Finch capped a 7-0 McDaniel burst that gave his team a 7-4
lead with 16:33 to play.
Two Kizmahr Grell free throws gave the Red Devils
an 18-14 lead with 8:50 remaining in the half, Michael
Jarboe (Monrovia, Md./Urbana0 hit a layup to spark a 17-8
run that gave the Green Terror a 33-26 lead with less than a minute
remaining in the first half.
Kevin Henry (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) capped
the burst with five straight points, including a
3-pointer.
Two Odunlami free throws with 1.8 seconds showing in the first half
re-established a seven-point halftime advantage at 35-28.
A McKay layup with 17:36 remaining pushed the lead to double
figures for the first time at 41-30 and the Red Devils got no
closer than nine the rest of the way.
Two McKay free throws with 1:02 to play stretched the lead to its
largest at 15.
Odunlami added a career-high six assists.
The Green Terror returns to action at Washington (Md.) on Saturday.
