Box Score Green Terror holds Bryn Mawr to 39 points to take third

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South
River) netted a game-high 19 points to lead McDaniel to a
72-39 victory at Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's
basketball action on Saturday.
Katelyn Fisher (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough)
added 10 points, four assists and three steals for the Green Terror
(3-4, 3-2 CC), who outscored the Owls (1-7, 0-6 CC) by a 44-23
margin in the second half to turn a 12-point halftime victory into
its largest margin of victory this season.
Lindsey Darvin led Bryn Mawr with 13 points
while Shanika Bridges-King added 11.
After missing its first six shots and falling into a 5-2 deficit
with 16:37 to play in the first half, Cara Thompson
(Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) hit a short jumper and
McDaniel converted six of its next seven shots to take a 14-9 lead
with 11:57 on the clock.
Clinging to a 16-15 lead, Moreland connected on a pair of free
throws at the 5:20 mark before Ashley Lyles (Laurel,
Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) converted a three-point play to
snap a four-minute drought from the floor and stretch the lead to
21-15 with 4:37 showing.
The Green Terror held Bryn Mawr to a single Bridges-King free
throw over the final 8:49 of the first half, finishing the stanza
on a 14-1 run to build a 28-16 halftime advantage.
McDaniel notched the first seven points of the second half to
extend the lead to 35-16 before Bridges-King snapped a 10-minute,
41-second drought from the floor.
A Rudi Vanzin layup halted a 33-3 run with
12:33 to play that spanned 17:10, making it a 47-20 game.
Thompson added 10 points while Lyles finished with nine.
Catherine Mills (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) added six
points and a six rebounds. Moreland added five steals and four
assists to go with her season high-tying point total.
Sally Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales
Academy) finished with five assists while Emma
Adams (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) led McDaniel with seven
rebounds.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Susquehanna
on Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
