Glotfelty, Lowe earn individual titles at 12-team Red Dragon
Invitational
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville,
Md./Northern Garrett) finished another perfect weekend
with a tournament-best four first-period pins to improve to 14-0 on
the season and lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the 2009
Red Dragon Invitational at Oneonta in wrestling action on Saturday.
The Green Terror finished with 96 points. College of New Jersey
won the team title in the 12-team field with 152 points. The host
Red Dragons finished second with 110 points while SUNY Cortland was
third with 105.5 points. Centennial Conference foes Johns Hopkins
and Gettysburg finished ninth (56.5) and 11th (28), respectively.
Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added an
individual title at 149 for McDaniel, going 4-0 with three
technical falls and a pin.
Lowe, the No. 2 seed in the bracket, knocked off the top-seed
Shay Shive of Niagara Community College 27-11 in
the title bout.
Glotfelty, the top seed at heavyweight, won his championship
match over the second-seed Joe Murphy (Cortland)
by fall in 1:33.
Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill)
added a runner-up finish at 197 with a 3-1 day, falling to the
top-seed Alex Kozial of TCNJ, 7-4.
Scott Forrester (Manchester, N.J./Manchester
Twp.) rounded out the placewinners for McDaniel with a
sixth-place showing at 174.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Petrofes Inviational
hosted by Messiah on Dec. 4-5. Action on Friday begins at 12 p.m.
