Glotfelty takes heavyweight title at Ursinus Fall Brawl
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville,
Md./Northern Garrett) improved to 9-0 on the young season,
going 5-0 with a pair of pins to win the heavyweight title and lead
McDaniel at the Ursinus Fall Brawl in wrestling action on Saturday.
Glotfelty opened his day with a 5-0 win before notching
back-to-back first-period falls. He added a 5-1 win over
Gettysburg's Bobby Christopher to advance to the
championship bout, where he defeated College of New Jersey's
Ed Broderick, 9-1.
Brent Lowe (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added
his second runner-up finish in as many tournaments this season,
finishing second at 149.
After a bye in the opening round, he started his trek with a
15-0 first-period technical fall before notching wins of 6-0 and
7-0 to make it to the finals. In the title bout, he once again feel
to Conor McCormick (Ursinus) by two, dropping a
2-0 decision.
Tommy Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll)
added a third-place showing at 133. He notched a 3-minute,
33-second pin of Washington and Lee's Ben Ersing
before falling to the consolation bracket with a 4-2 loss in the
semifinals.
He finished his afternoon with a pin of Ursinus' Alex
Blank in 4;34 and an 8-1 win over TCNJ's Andrew
Roberto.
Will Yeo (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills)
recorded three wins at 184 while Sean McGarry (Berlin,
Md./Stephen Decatur), Tony Vorndran (Millville,
N.J./Millville) and Joe Camlin (Westminster,
Md./Winters Mill) all notched two wins.
McGarry and Vorndran had a pair of decisions at 141 and 165,
respectively, while Camlin had a pin and decision at 197.
McDaniel returns to action at the Oneonta Red Dragon
Invitational on Saturday. Action begins at 9:30 a.m.
