Garnet takes three straight to notch 3-1 win at McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Genevieve Pezzola recorded a
double-double with 23 kills and 16 digs - both team highs - to pace
Swarthmore in a 3-1 Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball victory
at McDaniel on Saturday.
The Green Terror (11-7, 2-2 CC) took the first set 25-23 before
the Garnet (13-5, 3-0 CC) won three straight to remain perfect
through the early part of conference play. Swarthmore evened the
match with 25-16 win before taking the third set, 25-20. The Garnet
sealed the match with a 26-24 victory.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) and
Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson)
each recorded eight kills to pace the McDaniel attack.
Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy) added 17 assists, 10 digs and six kills.
Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) keyed the defense with 17 digs while
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) added
14.
Johanna Bond added 11 kills for the Garnet
while Sarah Lambert recorded seven of the squad's
13 aces.
The Green Terror returns to action at Worthington Classic hosted
by Gallaudet on Friday and Saturday.
