Box Score McDaniel eliminated with 3-2 loss to Red Devils
CARLISLE, Pa. - Bryan Gilmartin scored twice to
lead Dickinson to a 3-2 Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer
victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.
The Red Devils (12-3-1, 6-2 CC) locked up a playoff spot and
vaulted Johns Hopkins, which dropped a 3-2 decision to Gettysburg,
into a position where they can secure a first-round bye with a win
against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. With the loss, the
Green Terror (7-8-1, 3-4-1 CC) was eliminated from postseason
contention.
Gilmartin staked Dickinson to a lead in the 18th minute.
It remained a 1-0 game until an own goal at the 60:25 mark
stretched the lead to 2-0.
Adam Sommers (Frostburg, Md./Beall) finished a
Matthew Gillen (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) assist
just over eight minutes later to slice the deficit to 2-1.
Gilmartin stretched the lead back to two with 8:18 to play
before Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of
Baltimore) quickly responded to make it a 3-2 game in the
84th minute.
The Green Terror had a pair of chances in the final four minutes
sail just wide of the net.
McDaniel finished with an 18-16 advantage in shots.
Robert Hollasch (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty),
made four saves for the Green Terror.
McDaniel concludes the season at home against Gettysburg on
Saturday. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
