Green Terror downs Washington in five, sweeps Lancaster

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Taylor Herrgott (Derwood,
Md./Magruder) recorded 33 kills to lead McDaniel to a pair
of wins, including a 3-2 victory over Washington (Md.) in
Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (17-10, 5-3 CC) needed five sets to keep the
Shorewomen (9-14, 0-8 CC) winless in conference play, winning the
deciding set, 15-11. McDaniel took the first set 25-16 before
Washington took a 2-1 lead in the match with victories of 25-21 and
25-22, respectively. The Green Terror forced the deciding set with
a 25-17 win in set four.
The match with Lancaster Bible was nearly an hour quicker with
McDaniel winning in straight sets, 25-12, 25-19, 25-11.
Against the hosts, Herrgott led four players in double-digit
kills with 21. Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) added 12 kills, three aces and 13 digs while
Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson)
and Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Cliff)
each had 11 kills.
Reisinger added 13 digs while Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) and Katie Ferguson
(Dover, Pa./Northern York) paced the defense with 18 and
15 digs, respectively.
Nuckles added 47 assists to the attack. Hanlon had six total
blocks.
Against the Crusaders (15-14), Herrgott notched 12 kills while
McShea steadied the defense with 11 digs. Nuckles added 29 assists
and two service aces.
The Green Terror returns to action at Johns Hopkins on
Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
