Box Score Green Terror notches 3-2 win at Catholic
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Michael Beard (Crofton,
Md./Archbishop Spalding) broke a 2-all deadlock with a
goal in the 81st minute to lift McDaniel to a 3-2 victory at
Catholic in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (7-6) took just 10 shots compared to the 23
fired by the Cardinals (10-3) but Beard capped a 13-minute stretch
that netted four goals to lift his team to the win.
Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of
Baltimore) passed from the left to Beard, who drove the
ball over the Catholic keeper for the senior's first goal since his
freshman season with 9:50 on the clock.
Timothy Wineke (Reisterstown, Md./North
Carroll) opened the scoring with a penalty-kick goal at
the 17:17 mark.
After nearly 50 minutes without scoring, Michael
DiMarco netted a Tyler Bills feed at the
67:10 mark to knot the score at 1-all.
Fewer than four minutes later, Adam Dolbey (Marydel,
Del./Cesar Rodney) knocked a ball off the post and past
the keeper to put McDaniel back in front by one.
Matt Hofrichter needed just 4:11 to once again
even the game, punching home a low shot past a diving keeper off a
Mike Brennan helper.
Robert Hollasch (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty)
made a season-best 12 saves for McDaniel.
McDaniel returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time
is 1 p.m.
