Box Score Crawford records goal and assist for Green Terror in 2-1 win
over Franklin & Marshall
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kelly Crawford (Galloway,
N.J./Absegami) recorded a goal and an assist to lead
McDaniel to a 2-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall in
Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Despite being outshot 17-8, the Green Terror (3-8-1, 2-2 CC)
capitalized on its opportunities to even its conference mark with
six games to play. Leanne Hollinger (Westminster,
Md./Winters Mill) backstopped the defense with 12 saves.
Hannah Savage tallied for the Diplomats (3-10,
1-4 CC), who also finished the game with a 7-4 edge in corner
kicks.
Knotted at halftime, Cara Roig (Bel Air, Md./Bel
Air) played a ball through the defense that Crawford
collected before beating the Franklin & Marshall keeper and
placing the ball in a wide-open backside of the net for her first
collegiate tally at the 56:22 mark.
Hilary Hanus (Hockessin, Del./Cab Calloway School of the
Arts) opened the scoring with her first career point in
the game's 11th minute. Lisa Jurd (Columbia,
Md./Hammond) played a long pass into the box from the
right side that Crawford flicked off a defender right to Hanus, who
found the upper half of the net.
With 3:50 remaining in the first half, Savage turned and fired
from the top of the box, placing the ball just inside the
upper-left corner of the net.
McDaniel returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time
is 5 p.m.
