WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kevin Henry (Potomac,
Md./Bullis School) recorded his first collegiate
double-double with a game-high 23 points to go with his 10
rebounds, leading McDaniel to a 70-64 victory over Muhlenberg in
Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on
Wednesday.
Louis Sarris-Grau (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower
Moreland) added 19 points for the Green Terror (7-3, 2-1
CC), who also got a career-high six steals from Henry.
Peter Barnes led the Mules (5-4, 1-2 CC) with a
double-double of his own, recording 20 points and 13
rebounds.
After Muhlenberg got the first point of the game on a Evan
Tozer free throw 2 minutes, 27 seconds into the game,
Sarris-Grau converted a pair of his own to give McDaniel the lead
for good.
Five straight points from Henry keyed an 11-0 run that stretched
the lead to 11-1 with 14:07 to play in the first half.
Two Obi Nwizugbo free throws momentarily halted
the run before Henry buried a triple to stretch the lead to
11.
Nwizugbo hit a layup with 12:46 on the clock for the Mules'
first field goal of the game after starting 0-for-9 as a
team.
The Green Terror stretched the lead to as many as 15 before the
visitors trimmed the deficit to 35-25 at the
intermission.
A Ryan Finch (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon)
3-pointer pushed the lead to 51-37 with 9:18 on the
clock.
Back-to-back baskets from Barnes and Ryan Foster
cut the deficit to 61-55 with 2:36 to play but Muhlenberg could get
no closer.
Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County) added
12 points for the Green Terror while Foster chipped in 10 for the
Mules.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 21 Ursinus on Saturday. Game time
is 3 p.m.
