WESTMINSTER, Md. – Caitlin Moser netted
16 of her 24 points in the decisive first half, leading Gettysburg
to a 77-69 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC)
women's basketball action on Wednesday.
Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River) led
the Green Terror (10-7, 8-4 CC) with a season high-tying 20 points
while Kim Staub (Hanover, Pa./South Western)
chipped in a season-best 11 points.
Courtney Fields and Lauren
Dadigan added 13 and 11 points, respectively for the
Bullets (10-8, 7-4 CC), who used a 15-0 run over a 5-minute,
21-second span midway through the first half to turn a 15-9 deficit
into a 24-15 lead with 8:09 to play.
Staub, who hit a layup with 14:03 showing in the first half,
stopped the Gettysburg run with a 3-pointer to break a 6-minute,
4-second scoring drought.
A Kara Smith (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) 3-pointer
and Catherine Mills (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) layup
capped a 7-0 Green Terror burst to pull the hosts within 29-28 with
2:31 to play but the Bullets tallied the final eight of the half to
take a 37-28 lead into the locker room.
Gettysburg stretched the lead to 13 early in the second half but a
20-11 rally pulled McDaniel within 52-48 with 11:52
showing.
The Bullets stretched the lead back to 67-53 nearly five minutes
later en route to their eight-point win.
Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
added 10 points for the Green Terror to go with six rebounds, two
assists and three steals.
McDaniel returns to action at No. 22 Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game
time is 4 p.m.
