WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ali Moreland (Davidsonville,
Md./South River) and Meg Biggart (Darien,
Conn./Darien) each netted seven points to pace McDaniel in
a 60-45 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC)
women's basketball action on Saturday.
Moreland added six rebounds, six steals and five assists for the
Green Terror (10-6, 8-3 CC), who build a lead of 24 points en route
to its fifth straight win.
Emilie Naccarato led the Owls (1-15, 0-11 CC) with
19 points while Jessica Allen chipped in
16.
Trailing 7-6 with 15:27 to play in the first half, Meredith
Larsen (Phoenix, Md./Bryn Mawr) hit a jumper and
Lauren Wyble (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park)
added a layup to spark a 10-1 run, putting McDaniel on top 16-8
with 11:19 showing.
Two Allen free throws trimmed the deficit to 18-16 nearly five
minutes later but 3-pointers from Biggart and Kara Smith
(Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) to key an 18-7 stretch over
the final 6:22 of the first half.
A Moreland steal-and-layup coupled with a Ashley Lyles
(Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) basket extended the
Green Terror's lead to 40-23 with 2:28 elapsed in the second
half.
Holding a 51-34 lead with 5:57 to play to play, McDaniel extended
the lead to its largest point at 58-34 before the Owls tallied 11
of the game's final 13 points to set the final
margin.
Wyble, Lyles and Whitney Snoops (Millersville,
Md./Archbishop Spalding) added six points a piece. Lyles
also grabbed six rebounds and dished out three
assists.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday.
