FROSTBURG, Md. – Lauren Russell tallied
the eventual game-winning goal in the 50th minute to
lead Frostburg to a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference
women's soccer action on Saturday.
The Bobcats (2-1) finished with a 21-4 advantage in shots and 8-0
edge in corner kicks.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill)
led the Green Terror (1-3) with 11 saves in goal. Brittany
Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) provided the offense
with an unassisted goal at the 81-minute mark.
Heather Fleishell finished a Meische
Cox assist just 4:32 into the contest to stake the hosts
to a 1-0 lead.
Russell needed 4 minutes, 40 seconds of the second half to finish a
Tori Walter helper and double the
advantage.
Baer struck with nine minutes remaining on the clock for her first
goal of the season.
The Green Terror returns to action at Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday.
