ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lori Lidlow netted a
game-high 19 points to lead Lebanon Valley to a 57-48 victory over
McDaniel in non-conference women's basketball action on
Tuesday.
Eryn Schultz added 12 points for the Flying
Dutchmen (3-1), who outshot the Green Terror (1-2) .415 to .283 in
the game.
Ashley Lyles (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
led McDaniel with 11 points and nine rebounds while Sally
Grace (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) chipped in
eight points.
Trailing 42-41 with 5:47 to play, Caitlin Murphy
hit a layup and Lidlow converted off an Andrea
Hoover rebound-and-outlet pass to put Lebanon Valley on
top, 45-42.
Lyles hit a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to one but a
Murphy steal-and-layup pushed the lead back to three.
Catherine Mills (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) countered
with a layup before two Hoover free throws made it a 49-46 game
with 2:29 showing.
Two Meg Biggart (Darien, Conn./Darien) free throws
with 1:16 to play trimmed the deficit to one for the final time
before Schultz hit a trey in the corner to push the lead to
52-48.
Five free throws and a Lidlow layup to go with two Green Terror
turnovers and a three missed shots in the final minute accounted
for the final margin.
Grace opened the game with a 3-pointer before Hoover and Schultz
gave the Flying Dutchmen a 4-3 lead with 16:09 to play in the
opening half.
A Schultz 3-pointer as the shot clock expired made it a 7-3 game
before Moreland hit a jumper and Emma Adams (Oneida,
N.Y./Oneida) converted from long distance to give McDaniel
an 8-7 lead.
Knotted at 16 with 4:52 to play, two free throws apiece from
Ali Moreland (Davidsonville, Md./South River) and
Grace gave the Green Terror its largest advantage at 20-16 before
Lebanon Valley tallied seven of the half's final 10 points to
knot the game at 23.
A Megan Bish layup with 12:27 to play gave the
hosts their largest lead of the game at 36-29 before a Moreland
three-point play sparked a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to
knot the game at 36.
The game featured eight ties and 11 lead changes and neither team
led by more than seven before Lidlow's layup in the
game's final five seconds.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference
opener at home against Swarthmore on Tuesday. Game time is 7
p.m.
