WESTMINSTER, Md. – Sara Hanlon (Frederick,
Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was part of nine of
McDaniel's 13 total blocks to lead her squad to a 3-0 victory
over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball
action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (11-15, 4-4 CC) took the first set 25-16 before
wrapping up the sweep with a pair of come-from-behind wins 25-18
and 25-23, respectively.
Alyssa Forget led the Shorewomen (11-16, 0-8 CC)
with 10 kills.
Hanlon added six kills while Taylor Herrgott (Derwood,
Md./Magruder) led the offense with 11 kills.
Kristin Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy) and Kristie Fourcade's (Ijamsville,
Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) contributed to the offense
with 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
Nuckles added 12 digs while Fourcade and Katie Ferguson
(Dover, Pa./Northern York) added 10 apiece.
Trailing 12-5 in the second set, McDaniel closed the match with 20
of the set's final 28 points that included a Ferguson ace
– the Green Terror's lone service ace of the
match.
McDaniel found itself in a 23-19 hole late in the third set before
three of Washington's 32 errors and kills from Jenna
Filipone (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) and Hanlon gave the hosts a
straight-set win.
The Green Terror concludes the home schedule against Johns Hopkins
on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
