SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Four different Swarthmore players scored
a goal to lead the hosts to a 4-0 Centennial Conference (CC)
men's soccer victory over McDaniel on Saturday.
The game was called with 11:07 to play due to lightning and other
severe weather in the area and, because the contest had reached its
reasonable point of conclusion of 70 minutes per NCAA guidelines,
the result was declared final.
The 25th-ranked Garnet (12-2-1, 6-1 CC) outshot the
Green Terror (4-9-1, 1-5-1 CC) by a 22-6 margin and had four corner
kicks to the visitors' zero.
On a breakaway in the 298th minute, Dylan
Langley crossed to Evan Nesterak for a
1-0 Swarthmore lead.
David Sterngold doubled the advantage
four-and-a-half minutes later.
At the 64:19 mark, Rory Stackpole converted a
penalty kick before Stu Leon tallied unassisted 1
minute, 24 seconds later to set the final margin.
Michael Ratcliffe (Kingville, Md./Perry Hall) made
three saves in the first half while Benjamin Knight (Acton,
Mass./Acton-Boxborough Academy) had four in the second
half.
McDaniel concludes the home schedule against Dickinson on
Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
