WESTMINSTER, Md. – Taylor Herrgott (Derwood,
Md./Magruder) recorded 19 kills to lead McDaniel to a 1-1
day on the first day of the 27th Annual Green Terror
Invitational in non-conference volleyball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (9-11) defeated Newbury 3-0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-2)
before falling to Gallaudet in four sets, 19-25, 27-25, 25-13,
25-21.
Against the Nighthawks (3-15), Herrgott notched 10 kills while
Kristen Nuckless (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk
Academy) and Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville, Md./St.
Johns at Prospect Hall) recorded 11 and 10 assists,
respectively.
Nuckles added seven aces and five digs while Katie Ferguson
(Dover, Pa./Northern York) added six digs and three
aces.
Against the Bison (11-13), Herrgott and Nuckles led the attack with
nine and seven kills, respectively. Fourcade added 16 assists while
Nuckles had 10.
Ferguson and Fourcade steadied the defense with 11 digs apiece.
Herrgott added four blocks.
McDaniel returns to action in the second day of the Green Terror
Invitational on Saturday. By virtue of tiebreakers, the Green
Terror advance to the championship bracket and will play Gallaudet
at 10 a.m. and No. 24 Salisbury at 12 p.m.
