Purkey enters his second season on the Green Terror staff and continues to work with the outside linebackers. In 2016, he will also coordinate the special teams.

A local product, Purkey returns to Carroll County after spending last season coaching wide receivers and special teams at his alma mater. 

Upon graduation from James Madison in 2013, he spent a season as the wide receivers coach and offensive assistant at Stevenson. Among his tasks with the Mustangs was to organize and run the scout defense.

Purkey’s coaching experience began during his undergraduate career following a successful playing career at South Carroll High School. Purkey worked with the JMU football team, assisting with film breakdown. As a senior, he completed a practicum in coaching, learning offensive schemes implemented by the Dukes.

Purkey graduated with a bachelor of science in kinesiology.
